Ilion, NY Stanley "Stan" Thompson, 72, passed away on August 11, 2014. Stan was born in Ilion on December 13, 1941, the son of Seymour and Ruth (Lum) Thompson. He married Colleen Harris on February 15, 1969 in Paris, New York. Stan was a lifelong resident of Ilion, he was employed by Steffen Publishing Company, as well as various other advertising agencies. He was an active member of Valley Baptist Church in Frankfort, New York. Stan loved the outdoors, visiting the Adirondacks, and was an avid New York Giants fan. Stan is survived by his wife of 45 years, Colleen, his daughters and sons in laws, Tony and Tracey (Thompson) Coccitto of Spencerport and Michael and Kelly (Thompson) Getman of Webster, his beloved grandchildren: Olivia, Sophia, Madeline, and Michael: his brother in law, Todd (Donna) Harris, nieces and nephews and special neighbors. Friends may call on Saturday, August 16 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc., 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY. A memorial service will follow at the First Baptist Church of Ilion, 8 Second St., Ilion, NY at 2:00 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff at Lipson Cancer Center at Linden Oaks for providing exceptional care and compassion for Stan throughout his treatments.
