Ilion Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Rathbun, 79, of 25 Benedict Ave., passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Little Falls Hospital. Betty was born May 27, 1932 in Ilion the daughter of the late Francis and Bessie (Wilder) White and was a 1950 graduate of Mohawk High School. On June 16, 1951 she was united in marriage to John E. Rathbun at Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk. Betty was a homemaker and devoted to children and cared for many area children in her home for over 50 years. She was a member of The Church of The Annunciation, The Ilion Council of Catholic Women and The Rosary Society, she was also involved with Ilion TOPS for several years, she also volunteered at the HARC Senior Program for 17 years. Betty enjoyed reading, doing word search puzzles and spending time at the Jersey shore on family vacations. Betty is survived by her husband John, 2 daughters and their husbands Susan and Robert Streeter of Ilion, Marianne and Al Miller of Jordanville, 2 sons and a daughter in law Robert and Janice Rathbun of Schuyler and James Rathbun of Ilion, her very special sister and companion Marie D. Ray. Betty also leaves her grandsons Justin Streeter and his wife Britney, Cody Streeter and his wife Pamela, Aaron Rathbun, Jesse Rathbun, Michael Miller and his wife Amanda, John Amrhiem and his girlfriend Audrey; special great grandchildren Brendon, Gayge Amrhiem and Hailey Elizabeth Miller. Betty is also blessed with an extended family which survive her, "special" grandchildren Donna C. Ray, Donald C. Ray, Elizabeth A. and James Colburn and Daniel, Clay and Brady Colburn, her other surviving family include sister and brother in law Ellen and Charles Lowell; a sister in law Marilyn White; a brother and sister in law John and JoAnn White; brother in law and his wife Malcolm and Doris Rathbun and several nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by a daughter Karen Marie and her siblings Robert, Charles, Francis, Bernard and Nancy, and her brother in law and sister in law Thomas and Mary Rathbun. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 10:00am at The Church of The Annunciation with the V. Rev. Anthony Barratt, assisted by Deacon James Bower officiating, interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery.
