Herkimer Edith Grace Oram, 83, formerly of 105 Protection Ave. Herkimer passed away on Saturday February 11, 2012 at the Folt's Home. Edith was born October 5, 1928 in Ilion the daughter of the late Harold and Nina (VanAlstine) Benedict. She attended Mohawk Central School. On February 12, 1949 she married Walter J. Oram in Mohawk, Mr. Oram passed away December 13, 2002. Mrs. Oram was employed as an assembler with Allegro Shoes in Little Falls, retiring several years ago. In the 1930's and 1940's Edith sang with a vocal group, The Benedict Sisters, and later was a member of The Four Notes Quartet. Edith is survived by two sons and daughters in law; Cliff and Lillian Oram of Ilion and David and Beverly Oram of Nashville TN., eight grandchildren and their spouses, Gabriel and Bonnie Oram, Mathew and Kelly Oram, Ashley and Jason Ossont, Jennifer and Mark Hapeman, Bridget Oram, Christopher Oram, Brandon Oram and Calvin and Kristy Woodall, several great grandchildren, also several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her siblings Edward, Bert, Gerry and George Tierney, Herbert Benedict, Vivian Monahan and Beverly Le Clair. Funeral services for Mrs. Oram will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 3:00 PM from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion, with Pastor Brian Engle officiating. Interment will be in the Mohawk Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2:00 - 3:00 PM at the funeral home. To light a candle please goes the www.whiter-hendrix.com
