Al will be missed by so many. I always loved his writing and his little quips. Al was a great employee and a man you could depend on. His years spent on Barringer Road, rain, snow, and sun, he was always there. St. Peter has a great man to help him at the Pearly Gates crossing people into Heaven. May God Bless Al and his family

Please accept my prayers to your family. Al was such an "icon" in our village.
His dedication to all the children is and always will be appreciated. No one can replace him and we could all learn some valuable lessons of life from him. He will be greatly missed.

Our heartfelt sympathy and thoughts and prayers go out to Al's family and friends.
Our former Barringer Rd. School grandchildren were quite saddened and up-set when they learned of his passing. He has certainly left Ilion with a lasting legacy at the school.

On behalf of the Barringer Road Faculty, Staff and Students, I extend our condolences. Mr. Smith was so dedicated to the children of Ilion. He is remembered as the Best and most Reliable Crossing Guard for our school. He walked to and from his post in all kinds of weather. He was a very kind soul.

Al was "the big brother" when I visited his sister Ruth back in the 50s. Al always had a kind word for all. He was a true gentleman.
My condolences go to his sisters and brother.
