Mohawk Thelma Agnes Hart, 92, formerly of Fulmer St. in Mohawk, NY passed away on Friday September 28, 2012 at the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, where she had been a resident for the past two years. Thelma was born in Ilion, NY, September 3, 1920, the daughter of the late Charles and Edna (Hempstead) Reynolds. She was a 1938 graduate of Ilion Central School and worked as an assembler at the Remington Arms Co. through the years of WWII. On June 24, 1944 Thelma married Edmund J. “Ned” Hart he passed away on June 8, 2011. After the birth of her twin boys, she left the war effort workforce and became a dedicated and active housewife, aunt and grandmother for the rest of her years. Thankfully her skills and love of cooking were joyfully shared and will be passed on through many generations. Thelma is survived by her children Brian (Julie) Hart of Honeoye Falls, NY; Cathy (Dennis) Prosser of Walworth, NY; Tom Hart of Truxton, NY; grandchildren Tammy (Joseph)Dyer; Tina (Scotty)Smith; Jed Hart; Matti Hart; and great grandchildren Jeremy, Joseph and Zachary. She also leaves two sister- in- laws, Sophie and Virginia Reynolds; as well as several special people that were close to her throughout her life; Beverly (Herbert-d. April 2012) McKinney, Barbara Wedow, Nancy F. Hart, Judy Dutcher, Lisa (Terry) Stanley and their children Sierra and Lorelei. She also leaves several nieces, nephews and cousins. Thelma was pre-deceased by her infant son David; brothers George, Fred, and Robert(Leola)Reynolds, sisters Arlene ( Gordon) Fike, Iola ( Jim) Stephens, Adelaide ( Ivan) Bunce . Thelma was a member of the Mohawk Blessed Sacrament Church and their Rosary Society. Calling hours for Thelma will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc., 100 Otsego St. Ilion, NY. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at the funeral home; interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to The Presbyterian Home, the Meals On Wheels program, or Frankfort-Ilion food pantry. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
