Ilion Date Line George W. Giddings 86, formerly of 39 North Fourth Ave, Ilion passed away on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at Mohawk Valley Health Care in Ilion. George was born on July 23, 1927 the son of the late Charles W. and Myrtle J. Bates Giddings, and was a graduate of Ilion High School in 1948. For many years George was the Custodian at the Ilion Municipal Building, retiring several years ago. George was a member of the Ilion Winter Club, the Ilion Elks Lodge 1444 and the Ilion Fish and Game Club. George is survived by his cousins Suzanne and Niels Bates-Mortensen of Mohawk , Diane and John Bigg of Vails Gate, NY , Terri Telesca of Waterford, NY, Kathleen McNamara of Schenectady, NY, and Lorrie Godfrey of Colonie, NY. Friends are invited to attend the funeral service for George to be held on Saturday June 7, 2014 at Noon from the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc. 100 Otsego Street, Ilion, with Deacon James Bower officiating. Interment will follow in the Armory Hill Cemetery, Ilion. Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. To light a candle, please go to www.whiter-hendrix.com
