Ilion Michael J. Kubica, 62, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017 at Faxton- St. Luke's Health Care Center after a long illness. Mike was born February 14, 1954 in Ilion the son of the late Daniel and Norma (Smith) Kubica. He was a graduate of Ilion Central School, class of 1972. Mike was married to Catherine Olsen on November 22, 1980 in Salisbury. He was employed at Remington Arms and was a landscaper and mason. He was a very active member of The Church of The Annunciation and he ran the Annunciation Fishing Derby for several years. He enjoyed golfing, and fishing with his son. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with his animals. Mike is survived by his wife Cathy, his son Jeremiah of Ilion, his sister Donna Tallman of Farmington, N.Y. and four nieces and a nephew. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30 am on January 28, 2017 at The Church of The Annunciation, Ilion, with Fr. Paul Catena officiating. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer. In keeping with Mike's wishes there are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc. 100 Otsego St., Ilion. Friends are asked to consider memorials to the Herkimer County Humane Society or The Church of The Annunciation. Envelopes will be available at Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home and Annunciation Church.
