Laurence K. Goodstal, 78, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Laurence was born in Towanda, PA. the son of the late Harry and Marion Goodstal. He was an Army Veteran and a graduate of Penn State University.
Laurence, a skilled craftsman, was employed as a design engineer with Ingersoll-Rand and later Remington Arms in Ilion, NY where he finished out his career as the Company Historian and Curator of Remington's museum. An avid sportsman, he was a member of the N.R.A., the Ilion Fish and Game Club, and the Mid-Valley Beagle Club.
He is survived by his beloved daughter Courtney and son in law Tom Nacco of Fultonville, his cherished granddaughter Emmaline, and his siblings Gary, Dale, and Judi. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his very close friends Catherine, Don, Eric (nephew), Fred, Greg, and Scott (nephew).
Laurence's funeral service will be Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 5:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion with his close friend Rev. Donald McGrew officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 3:00 PM until the time of the service.
Friends are asked to consider memorials to the Herkimer County Humane Society.

The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
