Irene D. Perkins, 98, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Mohawk Valley Health Care, Ilion. She was born in Utica on February 10, 1920 the daughter of the late Haskel and Pollyanna (Beaman) Dillenbeck. Irene received her education at Sauquoit Valley Central and was employed a Mohawk Valley General Hospital until her retirement. On October 20, 1955 she was united in marriage with Donald C. Perkins in Ingham Mills, Don passed away on January 19, 1973.
Mrs. Perkins was a member of the Norwich Corners Presbyterian Church and a past member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Sisters.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by a son Donald and his companion Joanne Schook, two daughters Shawn Perkins of Herkimer and Sue Perkins of Ilion, two grandchildren and their spouses Timothy and Amanda Perkins and Tanya and Tom Schumacher and two great grandchildren Alyssa and Abigail Schumacher, also several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son Douglas Fernald, her brother Charles Dillenbeck and a nephew Larry Dillenbeck.
Funeral services will be held at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc. 100 Otsego St. Ilion, at 1:00PM
Monday, March 19, 2018. Friends may call Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.

The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
