Frankfort Daniel G. Matthews, 78 of Frankfort, went home up in heaven to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday August 19, 2018. Dan accepted Jesus into his heart 10 months ago with his son Edward bearing witness. Dan was born on February 25, 1940 in Utica. He was the son of Frederick "Ted" and Glada (Christian) Matthews. He was a graduate of West Winfield Schools. Following graduation he served in the US Army from 1958-61. Dan retired from the Remington Arms Co. in 1997 after 30 years. He was a member of the Little Falls American Legion. Dan is survived by his son Edward of MN; two daughters Cheryl of NC and Sandra of Frankfort; a brother Tom of Ilion and 2 sisters, Sharon of Ilion Doreen of Cederville. 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by three brothers Dick, Les and Lee. A celebration of Dan's life will take place on Friday August 24, 2018 at 2pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
