Ilion Donald "Knucker" Bly, 71 of Ilion, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2018 at St. Elizabeth's Medical center in Utica. Don was born on December 13, 1946 in Ilion, he was the son of Richard and Eleanor (LeClair) Bly. He was a graduate of Ilion Schools and following graduation he served in the US Air Force from 1965-68. On October 11, 1965 he married the former Priscilla Wollaber, she passed away in 2011. Don had a love for muscle cars and was a well-respected salesman for several local dealers through the years. Besides cars, Don enjoyed carpentry and was a very talented carpenter and he was also a notorious practical joker. Don was also a member of the Ilion Fish and Game Club, having participated in several wild game dinners. Don is survived by his three sons and a daughter, Jon and Shelly of Herkimer, Brian, Erin and Daryl Burke and Steve and Sarin all of Ilion; four brothers, Richard of Ilion, Jeff and Kathy of Tupper Lake, Doug and Rena of MA and Matt and Bobbi of Speculator; two sisters, Beth and Paul Gagnon of Piseco and Peg Bly and Tim of Dolgeville; six grandchildren, Briana, Jenna, Storm, Kristara, Freddy and Justin and two great grandchildren, Brayden and Addie Mae as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides family Don leaves his special friends Justin Price and Art Rathbun and a longtime friend, Tommy Matthews of Ilion. Don's memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 6 p.m. at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc., 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Pastor Hans Drews will officiate.
