Obituary of Pat Moylan

Please share a memory of Pat to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patrick Michael Moylan, 82, passed away at home Tuesday on April 13th. Pat was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Margaret Moylan, on March 12th. He is survived by his nephews and niece. Pat holds a master's degree at Colgate University. He taught history at Ilion High School, where he and Margaret met and where she taught English. They are both remembered fondly by former students. He retired to care for his wife after she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but they both remained active and were advocates for promoting treatment and research of Parkinson’s. He had a wonderful memory and could recite the names and terms of service of all United States presidents, often while shaking a niece or nephew’s hand in what they relished as an “Uncle Pat handshake.” He and his wife were active in local theater, where he directed and acted. They created and performed shows explaining what living with Parkinson’s was like. He was devoted to Margie’s care and they were a wonderful team. A memorial service, for the couple, is planned on July 31st at 11 am, in the Ilion First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Parkinson’s Foundation - parkinsons.org or to the Presbyterian Homes Foundation 4290 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413, attn. Parkinson’s Disease. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. To send an online condolence please go to www.whiter-hendrix.com.
