HERKIMER – James Robert Siver, age 72, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 in the comfort of his home. Born in Ilion, on July 19, 1950, Jim was the son of the late Robert and Charlotte (Steele) Siver. He was a 1968 graduate of Ilion High School and went on to work for several newspapers, designing ads for their papers. He also worked at Hamilton College as a Security Guard for many years, then for UPS in the Internal IT department in Las Vegas where he lived for 15 years. Jim loved to shoot pool with his friends. For a time, here in Ilion, he owned a pool hall on the corner of Otsego & E. Main Sts. called Pockets. He also enjoyed many years of riding his motorcycles. Jim is survived by his sister that he adored so much, Lesa Decker, Ilion; nephews, Brian Decker and Crystal Balchuck, Mercer Island, WA, Tom Decker and Elizabeth Crawford, Utica and Greg and Jennifer Decker, Beaufort, SC; great nieces and nephews, Caroline and Milena Decker of WA and Jackson and Patrick Decker of Beaufort; an aunt and uncle, Richard and Teenie Steele, Mohawk; and several special cousins and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held on Thursday at 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, Inc., 100 Otsego St., Ilion. A service will commence at the end of calling hours with Pastor Rick Riggle presiding. Interment will take place on Friday at 11:00am at Crown Hill Memorial Park in Clinton.
