Ilion - Mrs. Helen Dooley, 88, of Ilion, passed away, Saturday, October 14, 2023 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her family by her side. She was born in Manhattan, New York on March 18, 1935, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Mingels Urgel and she attended school in New York. She was at one time employed with the City of New York, Coney Island as a Home Care Practical Nurse. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Helen is survived by two sons and one daughter in law, Andrew Dooley, Jr. and his wife, Nadine and James Keady-Dooley; two daughters, Anna Sessa and Katherine Dooley; her beloved grandchildren, Andrea and her husband, Richard Bergen, Sarah Dooley, Margaret Keady-Dooley, Patrick Keady-Dooley and Claire Keady-Dooley and two great-grandchildren, Miles Bergen and Adalyn Bergen. Services will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 10:30 AM in the Church of The Annunciation, 90 West St. Ilion where a Mass of Christian Burial be celebrated by Father Paul Catena. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer. In keeping with Helen's wishes, there will be no public calling hours.
