Ilion-Leonardsville Agnes J. Guyer, 75, of Leonardsville passed away on Sunday January 23, 2011 at Bassett Health Care in Cooperstown. Agnes was born on March 17, 1935 in Middlefield, NY the daughter of the late Arthur and Jennie (Procter) Mallette. She was educated in Springfield Center schools and on September 25, 1954 she married Ernest J. Guyer Jr., he passed away on July 14, 1998, during her life Agnes was employed with GE, MDS and Herkimer County Cheese before becoming a foster parent with her husband a job they both enjoyed, Agnes was a member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church in Ilion. Agnes is survived by her sons Robert and his wife Doris of Bridgewater, LeRoy and Anthony both of Leonardsville; her daughters Deborah and her husband Bernard Miller of Poland and Samantha of Mohawk; a brother Gordon Mallette of Attica; a sister Anne Guyer and a sister in law Beverly Mallette of Morris; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren, she was predeceased by a grandson Michael Allen Guyer. Funeral services for Agnes will be held on Wednesday January 26, 2011 at 7 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Rev. George B. Greene will officiate. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4pm until the time of the funeral and are asked to consider memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society or Virginia's Walk for Cancer; envelopes are available at the funeral home.
