Ilion Harold Edwin Neff, 82 of Ilion, passed away on Monday April 9, 2018 at Mohawk Valley Healthcare in Ilion. Harold was born on May 19, 1935 in Mohawk. He was the son of the late John Canton and Mary Anna (Davenport) Neff. He was a graduate of Mohawk Schools. Following school Harold enlisted in the US Navy. Making the Navy his career he served from 1953 until his retirement in 1975. During that time he served as an Aviation Structural Engineer with the famed Blue Angels. On August 10, 1966 he married the former Harriet Dougherty in Brewton AL. Harold was a member of the Blue Angels Alumni Assn., serving as Vice President, he was also a plank owner. He was a member of the Mohawk Fire Dept. and the Exempts Fox Den. He was an avid golfer but his greatest passion was his family and church. He was an active member of both the Little Falls First Baptist Church and Ilion Community Church. Harold is survived by his wife Harriet; two sons Roger and his wife Amanda of Mohawk and Andrew and his fiancée Cynthia Bailey of Waco, TX; a sister in law Helen Neff of Mohawk. He also leaves his seven grandchildren, Josh Neff, Gabriella Neff, Brandon Lane, Sarah, Julian, Asha and Elizabeth Neff; and great grandchildren Matthew, Harley Neff and Maverick Lane. Harold's memorial service will be held on Friday April 13, 2018 at Noon, at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Pastor Chris Wintermute will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mohawk Cemetery with Pastor Dean Mabry officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 10am until the time of the service.
