ILION - Edward S. Griffin, age 68, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 after a brief illness with his loving family at his bedside. Born in Ilion on July 1, 1954, Ed was the son of Gail (Furlong) Griffin and the late Edward Griffin. A proud veteran, Ed was in the US Army for four years, stationed in Texas and Frankfurt, Germany. When he returned in 1976, he began working at Lucas Aerospace located in Griffiss Park in Rome, NY. He married the love of his life, Suzanne Kelley and they spent over 41 years together in a loving marriage. In his free time, Ed enjoyed biking, kayaking, golfing, fishing, and photography. Ed is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Griffin; his mother, Gail Griffin and her companion, Dick Quackenbush; son, Tom and Victoria Chilluffo, Ilion; brothers, Brian and his wife Beverly Griffin, Little Falls, and Randy Griffin and his partner, Kristy, Ilion; his grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, April 26 at 1:00 at Armory Hill Cemetery on Benedict Ave, Ilion. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St., Ilion.
